Hi folks. Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm moving Eirene over to [info]irenic_spirit and this journal will be retired (for the most part, though I might fiddle with stuff occasionally or post icons just so it doesn't dwindle into obscurity).

irenic_spirit

Got it? Groovy, as my headvoice says.

What should your name be?
Uh, the one I have.

What is your greatest mistake that you wouldn't take back?
Probably becoming pregnant. It wasn't planned but I won't trade Zoe for anything.

Has anyone ever said something that's truly saved your life?
"I love you." Stealing Clark's answer, cause it's good.

Things are supposed to be perfect for a person's first dinner event with more than their husband. Eirene has been thinking long and hard on who to invite, and it had recently occurred to her that she didn't really know Virginia Potts well, called Pepper by everyone, who had only come to Kansas for their wedding reception. The goddess doesn't know her well, but first impressions were favorable, and you can never have too many friends. Or, at least, you should never stop trying to make them.

So she's invited Pepper for dinner, and Pepper's friend Rachel, with ulterior motives. Fine. Mostly ulterior motives. One, they can taste test the one dessert she knows how to make, two, they both know Clark, and three, well, they seem very nice. The menu for the evening is meatloaf (because it's another of the few items she can make, shut up), mashed potatoes, asparagus (it's healthy and she's pregnant okay?), wine for her guests and cupcakes for the aforementioned desert.

Opting for a blue plaid dress and sandals, Eirene makes sure the table is set, the food is kept heated, takes off her sandals at least three times in ten minutes before putting them back on everytime someone walks past her apartment, and generally paces the length of her living room.

Waiting for guests to arrive is difficult.

Kryptonians have too many rules and regulations. For instance, there is a very long, and dry, list of things you are supposed to do when courting someone, all of which Eirene keeps forgetting the moment she's not actually looking at it.

It's taken over a month to get Jor-El to agree to this, even though it's highly irregular (he posited that Kal-El should be courting her, but Eirene has no father to ask, so this is how it is) and quite possibly entertainment for the entire planet.

Eirene isn't even sure why she's doing this, except that it's very important that Kal stays in her life. Someday she'll return to Earth, and if he's still alive, she wants him to go with her. For now, though, the goddess is just going to leave a bundle of flowers on his doorstep while no one's around.

Because, really, she can't keep all the rituals straight and this is the best idea she's come up with.

Okay, so I have the new comp up and running, with just a few programs and files left to transfer over. Unfortunately, I also have a sick kid so any frequent tagging will have to wait probably until Monday. However, to amuse myself while loading up things, I took my two Clarks over to InsaneJournal: SV!Clark and LnC!Clark, respectively. I still have to work on profiles and such, but they will be available for rp this week. Thanks for being patient, these last couple of months fighting viruses has not been fun.

Gone Domestic with [info]hero_farmboy
It would be nice, Eirene thinks, to have an entire day in which to do absolutely nothing. Not that she's trying to complain, because her duties now are fewer than they were a millenia ago, but trying to juggle two vastly different time zones can be difficult on occasion. Helios still expects the Horai to tend to his horses, so she's in Greece every morning to do so, with a several hour "checking in" of the globe following that before she touches foot in Kansas by noon local time and spends the afternoons learning how to fit in with Smallville.

Like this afternoon, attending a church garage sale, though they weren't selling garages and the ladies kept cracking up whenever Eirene would mention it, and bringing her first chocolate cupcake (not burned! yay!) offerings. They don't mind that she's foreign and doesn't attend mass, or at least they don't say anything out loud. And there are already plans to introduce her to a sewing circle. And future arrangements for play groups when the baby is born.

Little wonder that dinner is a simple affair; steak, mashed potatoes and corn, ready and waiting on the table for when Clark gets home from work, his wife curled up on the sofa, dozing lightly, with a copy of Dr Spock on her lap.

It'd be more accurate to ask me what movies don't make me cry these days. The short answer is "Everything". The longer answer isn't really less confusing, and centers, more or less, on what manages to push my buttons.

Movies, especially dramas, with children getting hurt or losing a parent are guaranteed to make me weepy the rest of the night. And by "getting hurt", I mean either getting picked on bullies, kidnapped, killed, used as a plot point, and the ones that end up orphans are the worst.

Action movies can also make me weepy, simply because I start picturing the extras who tend to get caught up in the "action" portions and killed as having family of some sort, and picturing a small child wondering where "Daddy" or "Mommy" went is enough to start the sniffles.

So, really, anything aside from children's television and those animated Disney movies, with the exception of Dumbo, are enough to make me cry at the drop of a hat.

* Describe me in one word. Just one single word. Positive or negative.

* Leave your word in a comment, before looking at what words others have used.

* Copy and paste the meme to your journal to find out how people describe you when limited to one word.

You Are Very Honest

You tell it like it is, no matter what.

Even if the truth hurts, you'll dish it out.

And while some may get hurt by your honesty...

At least everyone knows where you stand!

Clearly I'm a horrible person, then.

I have claustrophobia. It's very hard for me to go down into a cellar, or under the ground, even being cooped up in my husband's pick up will give me a small panic attack, but I think I've hidden those reactions pretty well. It's embarassing, humiliating, and gods aren't supposed to be neurotic. And it's not like I can't trace this problem back to it's source - I can. My half brother buried me alive for a few years quite a few millenia ago, and it's something I've never quite gotten over.

Most days, I deal decently, I think, with being a claustrophobic. My job involves dealing with people and their problems wherever they happen to be, and a lot of times, that includes going into small spaces and staying there voluntarily as long as it takes. Some of those spaces include huts in Africa, slums in Brazil, even apartment complexes in Japan where efficient use of small space is almost a religion. And there are days where a field is the most closed-in that I can bear. Places like subways become close to torture chambers, and I don't say this lightly, because I think mass transit is one of the better ideas of the 20th century.

Unfortunately, this also means that on rare occasions, I can't do what I'm supposed to, and that makes me feel incredibly guilty, and pretty much useless. Discussing this with anyone I know hasn't been an option, because I guess I'm vain enough to want to seem competant at what I do.

Maybe someday that will change. For now, though, I'll continue living one day, one month, one year at a time, as I've always done.

With Clark bouncing between the Luthor estate and Metropolis, Eirene volunteers to take Rachel for safekeeping over to Queen Towers. Oliver Queen isn't someone she's met before, but Clark has assured her that two ladies making themselves comfortable in his penthouse isn't something the billionaire will mind. One of these days, she'd like to actually meet him.

Rachel is pacing back and forth across the room. "Eirene, I'm sorry for what you saw in Clark's loft." She actually looks embarrassed about it, which endears her a little further to the goddess. But still, "Rehearsing lines?" Eirene shakes her head and smiles, accepting the apology and the young woman in the same breath. Everyone wants to be loved.

"It's in his eyes. You're the center of Clark's universe. I've only seen love like that once in my life." The wistful tone has Eirene glances up again. "What happened?" Rachel makes a face, "The director yelled 'cut.'"

That's possibly the saddest thing she's heard all day, and is about to expound on that, thinking maybe she can give the actress an ego boost about her own self worth when the doorbell rings. Knowing that only key personnel have been told where they are, Eirene lets the production assistant in once he's verified he's got call sheets for the next day.

Which is when things go a little awry. Ben, the guy, tasers Rachel right in front of her, but instead of running, which would be the human reaction, Eirene kneels down to make sure she's alright, obviously confusing their assailant.

"Sorry, Eirene. But there's a hero living among us, and there's only one way he'll accept his calling. You need to die." He tugs her away from the prone figure, electricity dancing along the wires of his device, and begins tying her hands together.

Homecoming for [info]hero_farmboy
There's a goddess standing in the front yard of the Kent farm. Well, there's a goddess, a few pieces of luggage, and a god standing next to her, glancing around as if he's never seen an American farm up close and personal before.

"It's ... yellow."

"What's wrong with yellow?"

"Nothing."

"Than..."

"I didn't say anything 'Rene."

"Best behavior, mister."

Eirene shoots another look at her great-something uncle before picking up two of the suitcases and heading for the front door.
